Founder Stories: Jay Vics On Building JVI Mobile Marketing

In today’s Founder Story, we feature Jay Vics, the founder of JVI Mobile Marketing!

Read on for lessons he has learned from launching and marketing his business.

1. Please introduce your business and share your role.

My agency, JVI Mobile Marketing, is a media agency responsible for several brands in the local business marketing space. I am a Fractional CMO, providing marketing strategy to local B2C businesses in the retail, home, and professional services spaces. We have a ton of support through our Certified Partner relationship with DigitalMarketer.com.

Additionally, we run a web video interview series called “Meet The Experts”, and provide an all-in-one marketing software solution called JourneyBuilder. We also have a full creative team and a production studio to fulfill the marketing needs of our clients.

2. How did you prepare for, and go about your launch?

The launch of each product has been quite ordinary. We’ve built these brands by finding people who would like to pay to use our products and services just to validate our offers first.

Once we have identified a product/market fit, we use our email list, social media profiles, and existing network to grow organically. We are not reliant on paid traffic to succeed. We create a lot of organic content from our Greensboro, NC content production studio.

3. Since launching, what types of marketing campaigns and designs have worked best to attract and retain customers?

The best campaigns have come from our ability to generate word of mouth and referrals. We have created several workshops and presentations both virtual and in-person. Speaking, networking, and teaching have led to the best clients. One of our core principles is to “Always Lead with Value”.

4. What have been the most influential brands for your business? Whose branding and marketing do you aspire to and why?

DigitalMarketer is a huge influence on us. We love the Traffic & Conversion Summit as well. We have formed strong connections with several influential brands, such as Socialite and Joza Marketing in Canada, Mongoose Media in Florida, The Scalable Company, and our fellow DigitalMarketer Certified Partners.

5. What are your favorite marketing platforms/tools?

Our favorite tool is JourneyBuilder. It combines and replaces roughly 30 different marketing software tools. We manage, support, and develop JourneyBuilder on top of the GoHighLevel platform.

6. Looking ahead, what are you most excited about?

Most excited about watching my daughter grow up and the choices she will get to make in this world. It is sometimes scary, but technology and life changes at breakneck speeds. In business, I am most excited about helping multi-location and local B2C companies combine and implement unique strategies without the need for 30 different tools to get a simple marketing campaign created and launched.

7. Who or what inspires and motivates you?

My community of fellow DigitalMarketer Certified Professionals, Ryan Deiss, and Richard Lindner. What Ryan and Richard built and have now handed to my dear friend Mark DeGrasse is a wonderful community of really smart marketers who are helping to shape the future of Digital Marketing, AI, and leadership.

8. What are some lessons you’ve learned along the way that you would share with entrepreneurs hoping to launch or who have just launched?

Scaling fast will help you make the most mistakes very quickly. This is critical because, in business, we need to learn, adapt, pivot, and innovate in order to grow successfully. I sat stagnant with really slow growth for 11 years, and then, seemingly overnight got really rapid success. All of my warts got exposed and we are becoming a much better organization from it.

9. What do you believe are the qualities of a good entrepreneur? And what makes a team successful?

Communication, showing up every day, caring about your clients, and taking care of your team are the main qualities of a great entrepreneur. A successful team is built when everyone understands the mission, communicates well, and works to achieve the goals of the company. We also believe that personal wins are more important than professional wins. If our team can’t go out and live great personal lives, their professional life will ultimately suffer.
