In the Marketing Realm

Google strengthens offline measurement with new omnichannel advertising tools

Google has announced two new updates designed to help advertisers connect digital campaigns with in-store sales results.

The first update, Local Customer Optimization, adds a new setting within Performance Max campaigns for store goals. The feature helps businesses prioritize shoppers who are nearby or actively interested in their local area when making purchase decisions. Ads can be surfaced across Google properties including Maps, Waze, Search, and other placements, helping brands reach consumers when they are most likely to visit, call, book, or buy.

The second update brings Store Sales into Data Manager. Advertisers can now connect offline CRM and spreadsheet data directly to Google Ads without requiring custom coding. This makes it easier to attribute in-store purchases to ad campaigns and combine online and offline performance data in one place.

For brands with physical locations, these tools offer a clearer way to drive local demand, measure true return on ad spend, and connect digital marketing efforts to real-world sales outcomes.

Google Search adds live game tracking and other features

Google is rolling out new football-focused Search features aimed at helping fans follow games, track player performance, and manage fantasy teams more easily throughout the season.

A new Live Game Feed now provides real-time updates for ongoing games directly in Search. Users can access play-by-play coverage, video highlights, social reactions, game recaps, and AI-generated insights by searching for a live matchup and selecting the “Live” view.

Search is also expanding its sports data experience. Fans can now view scores from multiple games through a new matchup carousel and access detailed game stats. For fantasy football players, Google now allows Yahoo Fantasy and Sleeper accounts to be linked with AI Mode.

Sports marketing enters a new era of real-time personalization

Live sports continue to be one of the few media experiences that consistently attract massive real-time audiences. This is something that marketers need to make note of. Because sports has become an impactful topic around which brands can connect with and converse with their consumers.

As on-demand consumption is steadily growing across entertainment, sports continue to be a rare source of shared cultural moments that fans want to experience as they happen.

This has fueled a steady growth in investment in sports marketing, particularly across digital channels. However, reaching fans effectively has become more complex. Brands need to understand individual fan interests, respond to fast-changing game moments, and deliver relevant messaging across multiple platforms without delay.

The post here from Digiday explores this discussion, sharing some unique insights for brands looking to invest in sports marketing.

Autodesk positions human creativity at the center of the AI conversation

ADWEEK discusses a new Autodesk campaign, The World Is Yours for the Making, that highlights human creativity and ingenuity at a time when concerns about AI continue to grow. The campaign focuses on the people who use Autodesk’s design software across industries such as architecture, manufacturing, and media.

The centerpiece film follows a newborn entering the world before showcasing creators bringing ideas to life, from designing sports stadiums to creating animated characters. The campaign closes with a simple message: “Make what matters.”

According to Autodesk CMO Dara Treseder, the campaign is designed to reinforce the company’s belief that technology should empower people, not replace them. The creative direction reflects broader public concerns about AI and emphasizes human agency, creativity, and progress.

This campaign signals a growing shift among technology brands toward framing AI as a tool that amplifies human potential rather than the core of the story itself.

SEO budgets face a reality check as AI reshapes Search

As AI Overviews and changing search results reshape organic visibility, SEO teams are under pressure to prove value and spend budgets more strategically. A new guide from Search Engine Land argues that businesses should avoid shifting budgets toward AI-focused optimization based on industry hype alone and instead use performance data to identify what is actually driving traffic and revenue changes.

The guide highlights five core areas of SEO investment: people, technology, content, technical SEO, and brand building. It stresses that experienced talent, original content, strong technical foundations, and credible brand mentions remain critical, even as AI search grows. The article also warns against common budget mistakes such as paying for unused tools, relying heavily on AI-generated content, neglecting technical resources, or measuring rankings instead of business outcomes.

The key takeaway is that successful SEO investment now depends on data-driven decisions, measurable business impact, and balancing traditional SEO fundamentals with emerging AI search opportunities.

Traditional Search Intent as we know it, is changing

The search landscape is becoming increasingly fragmented, with users turning to platforms like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, AI chatbots, and community-driven spaces alongside traditional search engines. Search Engine Journal discusses new data that shows that 68% of Google searches in the U.S. now end without a click to the open web. This follows the long-term trend that predates AI Overviews and reflects broader changes in how people discover information.

Research highlighted in the article shows that AI-powered search experiences are driving longer, more conversational queries, with users now often asking complex questions and engaging through voice, images, and follow-up prompts.

Studies also suggest that AI-generated results appear most frequently for evergreen, question-based content, particularly searches beginning with terms such as “why” and “what.”

The article argues that success in modern search requires moving beyond keyword rankings and embracing a broader “Search Everywhere Optimization” approach.

Notably, the shift signals that winning in search now depends on building authority, trust, and meaningful audience relationships across an increasingly diverse discovery ecosystem.

OpenAI upgrades image generation with ChatGPT Images 2.5

OpenAI has released ChatGPT Images 2.5, its latest image generation model. This new model brings higher-quality visuals, more accurate editing, and significantly faster performance across ChatGPT and the API.

ChatGPT Images 2.5 delivers improved lighting, richer textures, and better preservation of people and objects when working from reference images. OpenAI says image generation latency has been reduced by up to 50% compared with the previous version, allowing users to iterate on ideas more quickly.

Several new creative features are also rolling out. Sketch lets users draw directly inside ChatGPT and use those drawings as visual references for image creation. Templates simplify common design tasks such as posters, flyers, and product images, while image commenting enables more targeted edits. Users can also share image prompts, making it easier for others to recreate and customize popular concepts.

In addition to this, for developers, OpenAI has launched two API models: GPT-Image-2.5 Flare for faster, high-volume image generation, and GPT-Image-2.5 Sunburst for projects that require greater creative precision and editing control.

OpenAI brings a data agent to ChatGPT Work for business analytics

OpenAI is introducing a Data agent in ChatGPT Work that lets employees use plain-language questions to analyze company data, investigate changes, and build interactive dashboards without writing queries or learning a separate analytics tool.

The agent connects to approved sources including Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake, MongoDB, and others. It can also use files from Google Drive and SharePoint, while applying business definitions, custom calculations, data relationships, and existing access permissions.

Users can ask follow-up questions, review evidence behind findings, create and refresh dashboards, and tailor outputs to company branding. The agent can also work with tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Sigma, and ThoughtSpot, then recommend next steps and share findings through connected tools such as Slack or email.

Meta launches Muse, the personal AI agent that takes action

Meta has unveiled Muse, a new personal AI agent designed to move beyond answering questions and actively complete tasks on a user’s behalf. Unlike traditional chatbots, Muse can manage projects, coordinate plans, book travel, send emails, fill out forms, and help users work toward long-term goals.

The system runs on a dedicated cloud-based environment called Muse Secure VM, which acts as a private virtual computer for each user. Reportedly, Muse can operate across connected apps, continue working after a user closes the app, and return when approvals or updates are needed. The assistant is powered by Muse Spark, Meta’s latest AI model built for agent-based workflows.

Privacy and security are central to the product’s design. Users control which services Muse can access, sensitive actions require approval, and Meta says conversations and data stored within Muse are not shared with its advertising systems. A separate monitoring system, called Sentinel, reviews actions before they reach the internet.

DeepSeek releases V4.1-Flash

DeepSeek has released V4.1-Flash, the smallest model in its new architecture family, with native visual understanding and a focus on faster inference, higher throughput, and lower operating costs.

The model uses a 552-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts architecture, with just 8 billion active parameters for input processing and 16 billion for output. According to DeepSeek, its new Causal Encoder-Decoder design, combined with updated pretraining and reinforcement learning methods, delivers benchmark results that can outperform larger flagship models, including V4-Pro.

The model is now available through the DeepSeek API with new pricing taking effect September 10. DeepSeek is also phasing out V4-Pro, with requests set to route to V4.1-Flash from September 14 until V4.1-Pro arrives.

For AI developers and businesses, the release points to a growing push toward models that deliver stronger agent performance while reducing inference, memory, and deployment costs.

Google integrates Gemini into more features in Workspace

Jumping between tabs to complete everyday tasks can completely ruin your workflow momentum. Google is addressing this friction by turning Gemini into an intelligent orchestrator across Workspace apps, including Gmail, Drive, Docs, Slides, and Chat. Users can now prompt the AI to execute complex tasks without ever switching windows.

The update brings deep integrations right where you work. You can assemble branded slide decks directly inside Google Chat, organize project files into structured spreadsheets within Drive, or summarize chaotic email threads into editable briefs. Gemini can even draft and send emails straight from a Google Doc while keeping your natural tone.

Beyond file creation, Gemini now also manages calendar schedules, updates Google Tasks, and handles deep research. These capabilities are currently rolling out to Workspace Business, Enterprise, and Google AI Pro subscribers.

Amazon upgrades Alexa for Shopping with new features for holiday shopping

Just in time for the holiday season, Amazon has upgraded its “Alexa for Shopping” AI assistant to make finding and buying products seamless. Users can now ask complex questions directly in the main search bar, review AI-generated summaries, and compare items side-by-side. The assistant even tracks up to a year of price history to help shoppers catch the best deals.

The update introduces powerful automation. Through scheduled actions, the AI can automatically reorder household essentials, track upcoming product releases, and execute purchases when an item reaches a target price. It can even transcribe handwritten shopping lists and help users buy products from external websites across the web.

This update shifts product discovery toward AI-driven recommendations, forcing companies to optimize their listings for automated purchasing algorithms.

Social Media Feature Updates and Algorithm Changes

TikTok expands comments with voice, polls and carousels

TikTok is adding new ways for users to interact through comments, building on text, photo, and video sticker responses. According to TikTok, more than 1.7 billion comments are shared every day.

Voice Comments let users record and post audio messages of up to 60 seconds directly under videos. The feature is rolling out globally over the next month to users aged 18 and older.

Comment Polls let creators add polls to comments on their own videos, with up to five options and a set voting period. Additionally, creators can track results in real time, and the feature is now available globally.

TikTok is also expanding photo comments. Photo Carousel Comments allow up to nine photos in one comment, while Live Photo Comments add brief motion to uploaded Live Photos. Live Photo Comments are available globally, with Photo Carousel Comments rolling out globally over the next month.

WhatsApp now supports in-app bill payments in India

WhatsApp is taking another major step toward becoming an all-in-one super app in India. Meta has officially launched a feature that allows users to find, manage, and pay their everyday utility bills directly inside the app.

Powered by the Bharat Connect (BBPS) network, the new service connects users to over 22,000 billers across 30 categories. People can now settle payments for electricity, water, gas, FASTag, and credit cards without switching between multiple platforms.

By tapping the rupee (₹) icon on their home screen, users can track past transactions, monitor upcoming due dates, and pay using UPI, debit, or credit cards. The roll-out is happening gradually for all Android and iOS devices across the country.

Snapchat announces Snapchat Plans to make real-world meet-ups easier to organize

Snapchat Plans is a new set of features that lets friends create, share, and manage real-world events directly within the app. The feature builds on how users already use chats to organize meetups. According to Snapchat, 35% of recently surveyed U.S. users ages 13 to 24 use group chats to make plans and organize events.

Users can create a Plan with a title, date, and time, invite up to 200 friends, and personalize it with dynamic Bitmoji-powered cover art. Invitations appear directly in one-on-one chats, where guests can RSVP with Going, Maybe, or Can’t Go.

A new My Plans section on profiles keeps current, upcoming, and past events together. Friendship Profiles will also show shared plans between two friends. Hosts can update details and add guests, while attendees can view the guest list, change their RSVP, and receive a reminder one hour before the event.

Plans are private and invite-only, and they keep event coordination within existing Snapchat conversations.
