The Best Of Kimp In 2021: Our Year In Review

Can you believe we are at the end of 2021 already? This year was special, challenging, and interesting for us at Kimp, to say the least. As the marketing world developed, so did our brand and our range of design services for our customers.

Before we present you with our year in review for 2021, we would like to begin by thanking the most important part of the Kimp ecosystem: our customers. Yes, without our customers’ continued support and patronage, this year would not have been what it is.

They inspire us, motivate us, and are our biggest pillars of strength. Thank you to every one of you for giving us the opportunity to be a part of your journey.

We would also be remiss if we did not take this opportunity to mention the significant contribution of the Kimp Team in making Kimp the brand what it is today. This includes our amazing Graphic Designers, Illustrators, Motion Graphics Designers, UI Designers, Marketing and Content Teams and Administrative Teams.

What started off as a spark of inspiration has become a dream come true because of the unconditional support from each and every one of you.

Last, but certainly not least, a big shout out to our peers, well-wishers, and colleagues in the industry for their continued support, honest feedback and encouragement to keep building Kimp throughout the year. We hope that 2022 only brings better and bigger things for all of us.

And on that note, let’s take a look at the best of Kimp in 2021 with this Year in Review.

Customers from around the World

Customers are the backbone of any organization. Kimp is no exception. In a day and age, where unlimited design services are grabbing customers’ attention, we are thankful for every brand that allowed us to work with them in 2021.

It is a testament to the growth of marketing and the everlasting impact of design in marketing campaigns that Kimp supported brands, marketers, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit organizations from over 60 countries in 2021. This is an increase from 2020, and we take it to be a sign of returning normalcy in the business world even amidst the ongoing pandemic.

These brands came to us with a multitude of graphic design and video design service requests, and we are glad that we helped them in their endeavors. Whether they were preparing to launch a new product or brand, reopen after a lockdown or kick off new marketing campaigns.

Expanding Globally

Ever since we evolved into a subscription-based design service, Kimp has always wanted to be a worldwide service provider. While this felt like a very lofty dream in early days, we are pleased to share that 2021 saw us making even more headway towards our goal.

Standing true to the fact that in a turbulent and chaotic world, it is media and marketing that kept us connected in 2021; we saw customers from different parts of the world reach out to us.

In 2021, brands, marketers, and entrepreneurs from 60 countries as far flung as Canada and the U.S., to Ireland and Spain, to Malaysia, Singapore and UAE, toNew Zealand and Australia subscribed to our unlimited graphic design and video design services.

This support humbles us and encourages us to continue to expand our footprint across the globe in 2022. There are a lot more brands that need help sharing their stories and we’re on a mission to help them do exactly that!

Industries We’ve Worked With

Marketing is probably the only function that positively intersects every business and industry. In 2021, our marketing team went above and beyond to bring out a varied clientele to serve. Kimp served businesses, agencies, and entrepreneurs that range far and wide including businesses related to:

  • The Automotive Industry
  • Cryptocurrency
  • Ecommerce
  • Education and Online Training
  • Event Management/Marketing
  • Health and Beauty
  • Marketing & Design Agencies
  • Nonprofits + Charitable Organizations
  • Professional Services
  • Real Estate
  • Restaurants
  • Software & Tech
  • Sports and Fitness

Designers on Board

With clients across over 60 countries, 2021 called on us to step up our team volume to serve all of you with our best foot forward. Understanding the assignment, we moved forward with an aggressive recruitment plan, and our current design team stands tall with over 230 designers on board spanning Argentina, Bangladesh, Canada, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Nigeria, Pakistan,Sri Lanka, Turkey, and Ukraine.

This team has worked tirelessly to deliver inspired design across our unlimited graphic design and video design subscriptions.

Unlimited Graphic Design and Video Design by Kimp in 2021

Even though the idea of unlimited graphic design services has been around for a while, customers are still skeptical of the word “unlimited”. Can it really be that much better than having an in-house designer or working with a freelancer or agency?

Well, it may sound too good to be true but in our best of Kimp in 2021 review, we bring to you a glimpse of the potential our unlimited design subscriptions hold.

For starters we want to share just how much value a Kimp client can receive with a subscription. Let’s take the example of one of our Kimp Graphics clients. In 2021, Kimp delivered a whopping 470 graphic designs for them. That includes multiple iterations AND revisions. Considering that the subscription for this client ran for 12 months, the cost per graphic design comes down to about $15 a pop.

With the flexibility to request designs across a wide range of design categories, a Kimp Graphics subscription can really add a lot of value.

With Kimp Video, the highest number of videos created for a single brand in 2021 touched 228. Again is no mean feat given the complexities of the average video project.

Doing the math again, with a 12-month subscription, the cost per video (including revisions and different iterations) comes to an unbelievable $30.

Kimp’s unlimited design service for marketing agencies in 2021

Marketing agencies are some of our favorite clients. They have a clear goal in mind and give us the opportunity to work on a wide range of brands, and design types. And communicating with them is mostly a breeze. Not to mention, the opportunities they bring with them in working with a diverse clientele. With a Kimp design subscription you can get designs for an unlimited number for brands making it easier for marketing agencies to optimize their design budget when they work with Kimp.

And standing true to our promise of providing value with this feature, the most brands Kimp supported an agency client with was 40 in 2021. This means following 40 brand style guidelines and catering to the tastes of 40 different marketing managers under one subscription.

Best of Kimp 2021: Our most popular Design Categories

Now onto the juicy part! We are a design company, yes? So naturally, our year in review has to feature our most popular categories. We believe that these categories also provide an insight into how digital and offline marketing fared in 2021 for brands.

Unsurprisingly, 2021 was the year of social media posts and videos for marketing designs. Given how vastly video content has exploded and social media dominated most marketing budgets in 2021, this is perfectly in line with what one would expect.

But logo designs too featured in one of Kimp’s most popular design categories in 2021. It is great to know that founders and entrepreneurs are blazing the path in these challenging times too and providing the due importance to branding as it so rightly deserves.

Logo designs have always been a forte of Kimp, and 2021 was no exception.

What did our clients have to say about Kimp in 2021?

Whatever we can tell you about our year in 2021, we are sure our clients can do one better. So instead of us telling you what went well for us with our clients, we think they should be the ones telling you.

So here are a few excerpts from our client reviews on third-party forums such as Google Reviews, Trustpilot, and Clutch.

Some had a lot to say, like our awesome client Nicole:

While some could say it all in a word:

We consider it one of our biggest successes that we are ending the year with a 4.7 rating on Google, 4.9 on Trust Pilot, and 4.9 again on Clutch.

Now you may wonder, what is it that clients like about us in particular?

The best of Kimp 2021 “As Seen In”

In 2021, we also saw Kimp getting abundant love from our friends in the industry with quite a few features in leading websites.

We began the year with Clutch announcing Kimp to be one of the top 500 B2B leaders in Canada. It was a great honor to be counted amongst many notable names, and our co-founder expressed the same here:

“The Kimp Team is thrilled to receive this recognition. The pandemic has been incredibly difficult for businesses to navigate. And we are grateful to be able to support our clients with their design needs as they adapt their businesses to new norms.” – Ven Velnaya, Co-Founder & Director of Sales

Our founder Senthu Velnayagam also had an opportunity to sit down with the team at Failory and discuss our plans of growing the subscription-based service and pivoting a business in the pandemic.

An excerpt from the interview:

Since starting Kimp, what have been your main lessons?

I’ve always valued my team and their many strengths, but in the past few years, I’ve come to realize just how powerful it is when we work together. There were so many moments that I wasn’t sure if we’d make it. But we pulled through and pushed each other to keep going. I wouldn’t say this is a new lesson learned since launching Kimp, but once that’s been reinforced. Your team matters so much more than your vision. Because without the first the second is going nowhere.

Another lesson that I’d say is tied to launching Kimp is around business growth, development, and innovation. In my previous businesses, we were often reacting to our clients’ needs. But with Kimp I’m always pushing to see how we can innovate and optimize our processes and offerings. If we hadn’t pivoted, Kimp would have never existed. And we would have just lost everything after 15 years of running our design businesses. But in going beyond what we thought we could do, we’ve realized more of what we can. And I’m going to keep pushing that ceiling.

More of this interview is available here.

From starting the year with Clutch featuring us in the top 500 B2B leaders, 2021 also saw us becoming a verified and top graphic design company on the platform, and finally being recognized as a top Global and Creative Design Firm by Clutch in 2021.

We are thrilled to have received these nods in 2021. Now onwards and upwards in 2022!

Best of Kimp in 2021: Graphic Designs and Video designs

They say an artist can never really pick a favorite, and we can see why. Each and every design we’ve gotten to work on this year for our clients has been great in its own way.

But as busy as 2021 for us in this Year In Review, we want to share some of our favorite graphic designs and video designs across our most popular categories. Let’s take a look, shall we?

Forbes believes that posters and other traditional marketing methods have a little more life left in them even in this digital-centric marketing world. With a holistic approach and a nuanced design, results become inevitable.

We are glad to hear this because we designed many interesting posters for our clients here in 2021 and we want to continue to do so. These edgy, interesting, and completely digital-friendly posters were some of our favorite designs in 2021.

Trade-show Banners

A marketing technique that is seeing a revived uptake from the folks in the marketing world is trade show marketing. It is a great way to share your brand with industry colleagues in a more personal manner.

And design makes all the difference here. Just check out some one of our favourite trade show designs from this year:

Information is gold in marketing and what better way to present them than brochures? Especially if you’re a professional service or a local business.

Brochure designs help brands present their information in a catchy, engaging, and aesthetic manner. They are the offline equivalent of social media carousel posts and work brilliantly in networking events and retail environments.

Take a look at some of our favorite brochure designs by Kimp in 2021:

The hospitality sector took a major hit in 2020 but made a good comeback in 2021. As this sector looks to renew its lost business and bring the patrons in, they need all the leverage they can have.

Menu designs seem to be the most sought-after marketing material for this industry currently, with Kimp designing quite a few of them in 2021. Menus are a great medium for the business to express their personality, attract clientele, and set themselves apart from the competition.

A plain menu has no business in a restaurant anymore, and once you see one of our favorite menu designs of 2021, you will agree.

T-shirt Designs

Merchandise and SWAG help brands improve loyalty among customers, spread goodwill in the industry while also creating opportunities for improved brand recall.

T-shirts are the flavor of the year in SWAG for 2021. Even outside of SWAG, customized T-shirts that make people feel unique and special ruled the apparel industry.

Kimp got the opportunity to indulge in both custom T-shirt designs and branded merch for our customers, and here are some of our favorites from these projects:

Podcast Designs

Audio content took over the world in 2021. And all social media platforms are either implementing or planning to implement an audio content section in the coming year. Spotify grew immensely because of the growing popularity of podcasts, and it was definitely one of the top content consumed in 2021.

Podcast Designs, whether cover art, logos, or other promotional designs, helped customers to stand out in the vast volume of podcasts launching every day and also reel listeners in with a sneak peek of what to expect.

Social Media

Okay, yes, we know you see quite a few images here. Let us explain. Social media posts were one of our most popular design categories, and the sheer volume of the requests that came in astounded us. Arguably, social media is one of the best tools for small businesses to connect with their audience and grow their brand organically.

Most of these platforms are highly visual in nature, and more often than not, it is the design that helps a brand win an edge over its competition.

Given the high stakes, and high volume of requests, it is not surprising that the Kimp Team got to explore the widest range of design styles in this category. From minimalist designs to color pop, we saw it all:

In 2021 too, email marketing remained a marketers’ favorite with an unprecedented 420% ROI. But like every marketing channel in 2021, this too needed great visuals, trendy designs, and an ability to reel the subscriber in and make them scroll. Among the many newsletter design requests that we got, here is a look at some of Kimp’s favorites from 2021:

With changing social media and search engine algorithms, organic growth became a challenge for brands in 2021. Most of them had to incorporate some form of paid promotion in their strategy, and Kimp was right there for them for sourcing graphic designs and videos for these advertisements.

From carousel posts to collection ads, from promo videos to video ads, the team worked on many requests to deliver designs that can generate the ROI our clients needed.

Picking favorites became hard here, but we persevered. Take a look at some of Kimp’s favourite ad designs of 2021:

Video Content

Video content dominated the world of content marketing, and brands everywhere leveraged this to generate interest in their offerings. And the formats varied widely. From logo animations to Reels, to video ads and demo videos! Yes, there were quite a few videos that graced our screens in 2021.

Kimp Video, our video design wing, also grew considerably owing to this trend. Amongst the many video requests we received this year, we’ve picked a few to show you the best of those from Kimp in 2021.

You’ll find a quick snapshot of some of our most popular video types for client’s here:

PS: Do subscribe to our growing YouTube channel. We have planned a lot of exciting content for you in 2022!

Custom Illustrations

Animes, cartoons, and gaming are not the only places where custom illustrations come in handy. On the contrary, it is the marketing sphere where we have been seeing quite a few illustrated works. Yes, right from logos to landing pages and everything in between illustrations seem to be 2021’s golden child.

It might be because of the highly engaging nature of custom illustrations or the fact that it is easier to create custom branded content using them.

To demonstrate the impact of illustrations, take a look at Kimp’s animation of the illustration process.

And that’s a Wrap on 2021

We are grateful to our clients, team members and supporters for how 2021 fared for us. As a company building a niche service in a competitive industry, your support only encourages us to be better and better each and every day.

This year’s review blog has brought back many fond memories, and we are now more excited than ever to see what 2022 has in store for us.

Here’s wishing you and your family a very Happy 2022 from the Kimp team of Kimp! We hope you have an incredible year ahead. And that you design a year you’ll love!
